Wish Kid Grace had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when she was two years old. Her stuffed animal puppy accompanied her to every doctor’s visit and hospital stay, but when Grace was referred for a Wish, she knew just what she wanted!
In January, Grace found out that her Wish would be granted and in May, she visited Green Mountain Australian Labradoodles’ newest litter of puppies. Grace chose her puppy that day but knew that she couldn’t come home with her just yet. Over the next few days, Grace was busy choosing a name…should it be Butterfly, Ginger, or Lucy?
On Sunday, June 11th, Grace and her family visited the Make-A-Wish Vermont office, only to be surprised with her Wish Puppy! Wish Kid Megan, who was granted her Wish of a labradoodle puppy ten years ago, presented Wish Puppy Lucy to a very happy Grace!
Wish Mom Karen says, “It makes my heart so full to see her experiencing this joy and just getting back to being a kid, which she missed out on a lot of. So, this is really nice for us."
It takes the work of many to help make a Wish come true and we thank Grace’s Wish Granters Janice Poplawski and Kathy Pecue, Pet Land, Orvis, Guys Farm and Yard, Pet Food Warehouse, Vermont Dog Club, Happy Dog Grooming Shoppe, Green Mountain Australian Labradoodles and Vermont Teddy Bear.
