Wish Granter and Wish Mom
Jennifer's Wish: A trip to Europe or maybe to go to the Academy Awards.
Jennifer’s involvement with Make-A-Wish® Vermont began shortly after her son, Eric, was granted his wish to meet Harry Potter in 2006. She was asked to join the Board of Directors, became involved with various committees, and then decided to become a wish granter.
Jennifer has helped grant a number of wishes and she has many great memories to share. Of course, Eric’s wish was her favorite! “It was just this amazing wish… Going to the Harry Potter studio and meeting all of those kids was spectacular!”
Jennifer has granted many different wish types, but she has also done “a lot of Disney wishes!” This is no surprise since The Walt Disney Company is involved in 40 percent of the wishes Make-A-Wish grants. She has volunteered for rush wishes, helped find costumes for Disney princess wish reveals, and even granted wishes for siblings! “Their wishes couldn’t have been more different!” She especially enjoyed granting a wish to go on a European cruise. “Sam was fascinated by European architecture and art history and the cruise enabled him to have everything he wanted. I loved planning, seeing and hearing all about it.” It is no wonder that Jennifer’s wish would also be to go to Europe!
She knows the challenges and emotional rollercoaster that can often come with having a seriously ill child. Jennifer understands the impact of a wish on an entire family. It is the hope that Make-A-Wish can bring and “the positive spin on everything” that inspires Jennifer. “It is all about making people feel great in dark times. How can you not want to be a part of that?... A part of giving a child a dream.”
